The Snowy Plover lives on beaches along the west coast, and is endangered. This drawing shows the cryptic coloration that defends the chicks from natural predators (note the hawk shadow), but which hides them too well when humans are on the beach.

Another endangered species, the Spotted Owl has been at the center of controversy in the west. They require large tracts of old growth forest to survive.

SRI rice storyboard

SRI rice storyboard

Tells the tale of SRI rice, an alternative method of planting rice for potentially higher yield.  Created in 2009 for a grad student client.  Always eager to take on work that involves water buffalo.

Stream Invertebrates

Stream Invertebrates

A series of small illustrations of freshwater invertebrates, in pen and ink.  Created for class field guides for the International Sustainable Development Studies Institute (ISDSI) in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in 2010.

Sunset Moth

Acrylics, attempting to paint iridescence.  The Sunset Moth lives in Madagascar, and I would probably faint if I ever saw something this beautiful in real life.
